Style and comfort at the highest level: the innovative Nova class. Two LNG fuel supply systems have been successfully installed on board the “Silver Nova” and “Silver Ray”.

Liquefied natural gas is currently regarded as one of the most environmentally friendly marine fuels, offering significantly reduced emissions compared to conventional fuels.

The “Silver Nova” and “Silver Ray” were built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg for Silversea Cruises. With their commissioning, these two ships rank among the most luxurious cruise ships sailing worldwide that are powered by liquefied natural gas. both at sea and while berthed in port.

Marine Service GmbH was awarded the contract to design and supply the LNG fuel gas supply systems and delivered tailor-made, state-of-the-art solutions. The scope of supply included all main components of the gas systems, including LNG pumps, gas compressors, vaporizers, cryogenic valves, superheaters and bunkering stations, as well as the glycol-water modules that utilize the waste heat from the main engines and provide it to the vaporizers and superheaters for fuel processing.

In addition, Marine Service GmbH supplied all electrical components, including pneumatic interfaces and the PLC-controlled automation system. The systems are designed with a high level of redundancy, ensuring safe and reliable gas operation even in the event of a single component failure.

As with previous projects, Marine Service GmbH also prepared the operating manuals and conducted comprehensive training for the ship’s crew and shipyard personnel responsible for operating the LNG system during commissioning and testing.
