Dear Readers,

I am pleased to present to you our new newsletter to let you know what Marine Service has been up to lately and to give you an update on our current projects and activities.

A lot has happened in the field of LNG recently, not only with respect to rules and regulations, but also in research and construction projects where Marine Service has played a significant part. We are also looking forward to contributing to the Council of Experts of the “Maritime LNG Plattform e.V. ” and participating in the market introduction of LNG in an active manner. Especially in the field of LNG bunkering and FSRU’s we see a great market demand in the future for an expanding LNG-as-fuel market.

We are also happy to have been involved in the continuing development of installed grid connections for renewable energy in the offshore sector which we were able to supervise during the constructions and commissioning stages.

If you are interested in future issues of our newsletter, please register at ms@ms-de.eu – and don’t worry, we won’t spam you!

 New, unique, efficient:

 The MS LNG Barge

In a time when clean energy becomes more and more important and marine regulations ever stricter, harbours and onshore facilities need to find affordable economic solutions to supply ships and facilities with low emission energy.

Resulting from this scenario Marine Service has developed the worldwide unique LNG barge – equipped with Marine Service’s LNG Fuel Tank Containers (or Type C tanks) and gas handling and service containers – all 40 feet ISO types. The customized barge is able to provide services to port stations and to moored or anchored ships at any time.

The standard barge is non-selfpropelled and can be either towed or manoevered by a pusher tug via a pusher bar at the stern. There are self-propelled versions of the barge available as well.

Marine Service has developed a reliable and easy to use custody transfer system, using a weighing cell system for the LNG tank containers which allows easy training of operators on site.

For more detailed information please watch our animated short film or download our brochure which you can find on our website or under the following link http://www.ms-de.eu/en/lng/lng-barge/

 Impressions from the North Sea

Hobby photography can sometimes be difficult, but with such an interesting motive as an offshore wind farm and a converter platform, coupled with fantastic weather, not much can go wrong. Our colleague Frederic tried his hand at capturing the atmosphere on film – and the results are certainly impressive! Here are some pictures from his latest stint offshore. Unfortunately the weather did not stay as good as shown for the whole time, making living on a hotel ship a little bit uncomfortable.

The exhibition in Perth was a great success for Marine Service. Australia has long been a major player in the field of liquefied natural gas, and its continuing role is evident in the maritime sector where the shipping company Searoad has placed an order for the first RORO LNG-as-fuel ship. The large gas reserves that exist in Australia will allow more players to follow, one example being the charter contract which Woodside Energy Ltd. has signed with the Norwegian company Siem Offshore Australia Pty Ltd for the country’s first LNG-as-fuel powered offshore vessel.

We were able to meet with existing clients and also to obtain a large number of contacts to potential new clients in this exciting field. Another major issue which we were able to discuss with potential customers during the exhibition was LNG bunkering and related products offered by Marine Service. The greatest attraction at the exhibition, however, were the park rangers who were carrying around baby kangaroos and koala bears. There was hardly anything more cute to be admired at the LNG18.

We look forward to visiting this amazing and exciting continent again soon.
